The Herki rugs are something to behold. They are woven by women from the Herki tribe, whose people were traditionally nomadic but became semi-nomadic sometime in the 20th century. They are well known for their exquisite weaving, which uses naturally dyed wool, resulting in bright and vivid colors. Many of their pieces are red, orange, and pink, though rugs can be found with blues and greens as well. They use top-quality wool, woven onto a cotton backing, and weave tightly to create a dense and medium-pile carpet, which not only lays very flat, but also feels luxurious on the feet.
