The Ourika rug was born in the 1970s, and hails from the Ourika Valley located south of Marrakech. The Ourika rugs have a single and symmetrical knot, like the Azilal rugs, yet tend to be more plush than the Azilal. The Ourika rug is more colorful than the original Azilals, with the incorporation of synthetic materials and colors commonly used in the rugs.
