The understanding of the symbols and motifs in Moroccan rugs is varied, but the diamond is a primary motif used by the berbers in weaving. It's thought to ward off the evil eye, whereas the straight and dashing lines are thought to represent masculinity. These designs, paired with the masculine colors of blues, greys and reds in this piece make it powerful.
