When I first discovered Moroccan rugs, I encountered so many people who loved and designed neon Moroccan rugs. My initial aversion (I grew up in the 80s when neon was such a thing) turned to near obsession, and these days I buy every single beautiful neon Moroccan rug I can find, be it neon-little or neon-lot! This rug is perfection, as it has a beautiful design, with strong central motifs and just the right whisper of neon to make it unusual and interesting.
This rug is woven by traditional tribes from the Azilal region of Morocco, which is considered between the middle Atlas and the High Atlas mountains. These rugs were historically made for use within the home, giving the women the liberty to be creative and adaptive, and to use their weaving as an expression of self. Designs can often look like a piece of abstract art that you would find within museum walls, and each is 100% unique and the only one like this in the world.
