Moroccan, Turkish and Persian rugs are so fun and exotic— why not add one to your bedroom to spice up your decor? One of the best places to put a rug in any bedroom is under the bed. Laying down a rug under your bed can make your space feel cozy and cohesive. Here are a few factors to consider when choosing the perfect Moroccan rug for under your bed.
Consider the size of your room and bed.In order to pick the best rug to place under your bed, you need to take into account the sizes of both your room and your bed. If your rug is too small or too big, your room could end up looking disproportionate and awkward. As a general rule, you’ll want your rug to stick out about two feet from under your bed on all sides at a minimum.

Decide where under your bed you want to place the rug.You have a few options when it comes to exactly where you place your rug under your bed. Depending on the size of the rug, you can place it so that your entire bed fits on the rug, you can place it so that your nightstands and headboard fit on the rug, or you can place it so that the bottom portion of your bed fits on the rug. It all depends on the look you’re going for.

Pick a texture. One of the best feelings in the world is getting out of bed and immediately stepping on a cozy rug. If you’re chasing that feeling, choose a Moroccan rug made from thick, fluffy wool. If you want something a little less textured, try picking out a Moroccan boucherouite that’s woven from cotton or a simple cotton blend. Even if you choose a rug that’s less noticeably textured, certain patterns and color combinations can create the illusion of texture.

Experiment with different shapes. Don’t be afraid to shop around and find a rug shape that speaks to you! Traditionally, square or large rectangle rugs are placed under beds. If you only want a rug under the head of your bed, try finding a runner or slim rectangle rug to place horizontally at the headboard. You could also place a runner at the end of your bed or to the side of your bed— there are tons of options and possibilities! There’s a lot of room for expressing your creativity when it comes to choosing a Moroccan rug.

Choose a rug that fits your color scheme. If your room and bedding pieces are bright and bold, you might want to choose a more neutral Moroccan rug to place under your bed and balance out the space. On the other hand, a colorful, rich Moroccan rug can serve as a great eye-catching piece in a neutral room. There is an endless selection of colors and patterns when it comes to rugs— it shouldn’t be too hard to find a rug that suits your style.
